Steve Alexander Tuna Tip 5" Spectra, 5/16"-24 thread SRL
The brand new Steve Alexander Slide Ring-less Tuna Tip has been artfully redesigned by Mark Laboccetta, holder of 11 IUSA World Spearfishing records, and owner of Steve Alexander. The newest iteration has eliminated the need for a slide ring, simplifying the tip selection process by removing the need to find a tip with the correct thread pitch AND the correct slide ring diameter. Eliminating the slide ring equates to less parts, less cost, and less headaches. The tip itself is the same high quality Steve Alexander tip you know and love. Constructed of heat treated, highly polished 17-4PH stainless steel, offering exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, precision machined and then hand-fit to the adapter in a very particular way. The adapter interfaces the tip with almost zero-tolerance, offering a rock-solid mating between the two parts that effortlessly toggles off at the right time, every time. As soon as the fish moves, that motion will deploy the tip, whether it is buried in the fish or has passed through the other side. A 20" long hollow core Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) braided cord is looped through the tip then back-braided for the utmost strength and minimal profile. That cord tucks into a specially machined channel as it runs down the tip, which keeps it out of the way, and this configuration has NO protruding components that would interfere with hydrodynamics OR impair penetration. The optimally shaped barb is made from a softer grade of steel (316 series) and TIG welded to the tip, then the welds are ground and polished, so they are snag-free. The softer 316 steel allows the barb to deform when overloaded, instead of breaking off the tip (which would render it useless). Identical to the tip, the adapter is 17-4PH stainless steel, which is heat treated and highly polished. Flats are machined into the adapter, allowing the use of a wrench or pliers to assist in removing the adapter from the shaft if necessary. And finally, the adapter is diagonally cross-drilled, with both apertures chamfered smooth. This allows the UHMWPE cord to pass safely through, and a knot captivates the cord, keeping the tip anchored to the adapter, eliminating the need for a slide ring.
